Card Check

You remember the secret ballot, where your vote was counted later. Well, union officials don't like the secret ballot. They want Card Check, which means that union organizers get to stand over your shoulder while you vote and look at the mark you put on the paper. They say is makes it easier for them, and I guess it does.

The EFCA (Employee Free Choice Act) is neither about the employee or about free choice. It's a union tool, purely and simply.

They could provide a public voting facility with a single booth for those who want to vote secretly; there's historical precedent for it. They could even, according to the same historical precedent put a sign over the booth, "Here is where traitors vote." They should put it in German, because while all these policies are socialist, they are also National Socialist.
I forget if I read this in the first or second of Richard Evans's books about the German experience of the Nazis.
